A female squash coach giving a junior coaching session to a young child aged 5-17 on a UK squash court

Junior squash coaching (ages 5–17)

A safe, supportive space for your child to learn the game — with vetted, DBS-checked female coaches.

Junior coaching is for players aged 5 to 17 — from first-time beginners to juniors already competing. Every coach is vetted, DBS-checked, and female, with safeguarding standards built into how Courter works. You book the session, you choose the coach, and your child gets a structured, supportive time on court with someone who knows how to coach young players. Sessions are bookable online across the UK, with the court included in the price.

Who it's for

Junior coaching is for any child or teenager aged 5–17.

For younger players, the focus is fun and basics — racket grip, how to move, how to hit the ball, how the game works. Coaches make it playful, not pressured.

For older juniors who already play, sessions get more technical. Your coach can work on technique, match play, fitness, or competition prep, depending on what your child wants.

You don't need to be a squash player yourself. You don't need to know what to ask for. Your coach will guide you and your child through what's right.

What to expect

Drop-off is straightforward. You can stay and watch courtside or hang out at the venue. We ask that the named parent or guardian stays on the premises throughout the session.

Sessions start with a warm-up and some racket basics. From there, the coach builds in drills, games, and short rallies that match your child's age and ability. Expect plenty of moving, plenty of trying, and plenty of small wins.

At the end, the coach will give you and your child a quick summary — what they worked on, what's next, and anything to practise at home.

Are all junior coaches DBS-checked?

Yes. Every Courter coach is DBS-checked, qualified, and registered with England Squash.

Do they need protective eyewear?

Yes. England Squash requires under-19s to wear approved protective eyewear on court. Your coach will check this before play begins. If you don't have any, please let us know when you book.

What if my child is nervous?

That's normal, and your coach is used to it. Tell them when you book, and they'll start the session gently — no pressure.
