Courter — Player Terms
Version 1.0 | May 2026
These are the terms for booking sessions through Courter as a player. They're written in plain English because it matters that you understand them.
By booking a session through Courter, you agree to these terms.
1. About Courter
Courter is a squash coaching booking platform operated by Sally Archibald, trading as Courter ("we", "us", "our"). Our website is courter.co.uk.
Courter connects players with vetted squash coaches at partner venues. We are a booking platform — we are not a coaching provider, and coaches operate as independent professionals.
Your personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at courter.co.uk/privacy.
2. Using our service
By booking a session through Courter, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use our service.
You must be at least 18 years old to make a booking. If you're booking a junior session (ages 5–17), you must be the parent or legal guardian of the child attending.
3. Cancellations and refunds
Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Cancellations by you
Courter does not offer self-service cancellation. If you need to cancel a booking, contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible.
- More than 48 hours before the start time of your session: Full refund
- Less than 48 hours before your session: Refunds are not given, as the coach and court have been reserved for you.
Refunds are processed via Stripe and typically arrive within 5–10 working days.
Cancellations by us or the coach
If we or your coach need to cancel your session (for example, due to illness or venue closure), you'll receive a full refund. We'll notify you by email as soon as possible and help you rebook if you'd like.
Coach no-show
If your coach does not turn up, you are entitled to a full refund.
The session start time on your booking confirmation is the reference point. If there is a dispute about arrival time, Courter will make a fair assessment based on available information.
Contact us at [email protected] and we'll process your refund and help you rebook if needed.
No-shows by you
If you don't turn up for your session, no refund will be given.
4. Coaches
Coach vetting
All coaches listed on Courter undergo a vetting process before they can accept bookings. This includes verification of coaching qualifications and a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check at the time of registration on the England Squash database. Courter only lists registered coaches who hold the required qualifications. Coaches are responsible for maintaining their qualifications and DBS status. If we become aware that a coach's checks have lapsed, they will be removed from the platform.
Coach insurance
All coaches must hold an active Coaches Club membership with England Squash and their own valid public liability insurance as conditions of being listed on Courter. Coaches are responsible for maintaining both their membership and insurance throughout their time on the platform. Courter may request proof of either at any time.
Coach relationship and liability
Courter is a booking agent only. Courter connects players with coaches and processes payments on their behalf. Courter does not employ, manage, or supervise coaches.
Coaches are independent professionals. The coaching session itself is delivered by the coach, not by Courter. Liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising during a coaching session sits with the coach, not with Courter. Each coach holds their own insurance for this purpose.
Courter is not responsible for the actions, advice, conduct, or performance of any coach during a session.
5. Venues
Sessions take place at partner venues listed on Courter. Courter does not own or operate these venues.
Each venue has its own rules regarding parking, changing facilities, and access. Where available, this information is shown on the venue's page and in your confirmation email.
You are responsible for arriving at the venue on time and following the venue's rules.
6. Your responsibilities
When using Courter, you agree to:
- Provide accurate contact information when booking
- Check your spam folder if you don't receive your booking confirmation email
- Check your confirmation email and turn up at the correct venue on the correct date and time
- Allow enough time to find parking and reach the court before your session starts
- Arrive on time for your session
- Contact Courter as soon as possible if you are running late
- Wear appropriate sports clothing and footwear (non-marking court shoes)
- Follow venue rules and coach instructions during your session
- Treat coaches, venue staff, and other players with respect
- Inform us or your coach of any relevant medical conditions or injuries before your session
- Notify us at the time of booking if you require equipment such as rackets or protective eyewear
- Contact Courter by ringing the contact number provided with the booking if you cannot gain entry to the venue
- Use the session for coaching only, not for any other purpose
- Follow England Squash safeguarding guidance around juniors at all times
7. Junior sessions
For junior coaching sessions (ages 5–17), in addition to your responsibilities in section 6:
- The booking must be made by a parent or legal guardian
- The parent or guardian is responsible for bringing the child to the coach at the start of the session and collecting them at the end
- A parent or guardian must remain at the venue for the duration of the session
- The junior must wear protective eyewear during the session — this is a mandatory safety requirement
- Parent/guardian contact details are required at booking
- The child's name and age are shared with the coach for safeguarding purposes
- Venue-specific rules on supervision and drop-off/collection may apply — check the venue page for details
8. Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers (when available) are:
- Valid for the period stated on the voucher
- Non-refundable and non-transferable for cash
- Applied at checkout as a deduction from the session price
- Single-use unless otherwise stated
- Partial payments allowed — if the voucher value is less than the session price, you pay the difference at checkout
9. Liability
Our liability
Courter provides a booking platform. We take reasonable care to ensure the information on our website is accurate, but we do not guarantee:
- The availability of any coach, venue, or time slot
- The quality of any coaching session (though all coaches are vetted)
- That the website will be available at all times without interruption
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of our service is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant booking.
Your liability
You participate in coaching sessions at your own risk. Squash is a physical sport and carries inherent risks of injury. We recommend consulting your doctor before starting any new physical activity if you have health concerns.
Force majeure
We are not liable for any failure to provide the service caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, venue closures, power failures, or government restrictions. In such cases, we will offer a full refund or the option to rebook.
10. Intellectual property
The Courter name, logo, and website content are owned by us. You may not copy, reproduce, or use our branding without written permission.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of Courter after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
12. Complaints
If you're unhappy with any aspect of our service, contact us at [email protected]. We'll do our best to resolve your concern.
If we're unable to resolve your complaint, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service. You can also contact Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk) for guidance.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
